Scent of a Woman

As a man, a son, a friend, a colleague, an acquaintance, a teacher and a student, I would like to say thank to all the women I have met in my life for giving birth to me, for your time, patience, love, friendship, beauty, and grace.

Thank you for hot cocoas and sunny smiles, and for dazzling dances you shared all the while. Thank you for tender tears over the rolling years. I give grace to God for all the loving women in my life, who have listened to this man’s strife. Thank you for intellectual discussions about DNA mutations, cancer, and kind, caring and candid conversations about womanly flings and less scrupulous things.

I wrote this poem in honor of all women. God bless and may you have a wonderful day !! Bonne journée mes amies !!!

Scent of a Woman

A mother to be, a baby boy grows inside of her,
a man shall be born into this world, for sure.

In his young life the boy knows not the proper action or words,
gone with the wind, flying high with the birds.

This young boy is confused of the female world he does not know,
he comes across a blind man, who could tango the girls with grace and flow.

He asks for some advice,
about womanly spice.

The scent of a woman, my young lad, no blind man can ignore,
that even from afar, beauty is not in the eyes, there’s so much more.

A woman’s beauty and grace,
is dancing in full embrace.

A woman’s gentle touch,
life giving, there’s so much.

I am blind and cannot see a woman’s loving eyes,
But I can feel her warmth and see her soul beyond any disguise.

I am blind, and I cannot see her gentle smile, so you must learn to listen to the caring words that she speaks,
Because from a woman’s heart comes truth, passion, intelligence and news that could make your knees weak.

Do not underestimate the woman’s inner power,
open your mind young boy, and you will see, a beautiful, evening shooting star shower.

Warm hugs, loving eyes, and caring smiles,
remember a woman’s true friendship, first, all the while.

Do not confuse the lust of your passionate young heart,
for a woman needs kind respect, wholesome truth, now that would be a good start.

Life with a woman is like one and two,
Just like when you say: me and you.

The boy did not understand,
and so the blind dancer took his hand.

And with two fingers he did show,
we are two bodies dancing as one soul,

What happens between a man and a woman is like two trees,
we grow strong, independent, liberated and free.

But as your friendships and relations mature, you will notice one day,
that your roots will grow deep, and become one with each other, and with each other you will stay.

Girls you will meet, many in life,
one day, you may settle and find yourself a kind and loving wife.

But remember my message, all women have a special place in our hearts,
perhaps the woman you meet will be the mother of your children, if you’re smart.

So be sure to have long talks with her, write her a poem, or perhaps even sing!
remember that beautiful friendship with a woman goes beyond everything.

Be sure to smile a lot, and take care of all the women in your life, you do meet,
You never know, the day when you too might go blind and have no way to look at your feet.

I am a blind, but my heart can see,
What beauty lies internally before me….

dancing with the angels

dancing in the rain,
to the rhythm in my veins.

I'm loving this feeling,
dancing a passion so fulfilling.

1,2,3-5,6,7
feeling the music at Club Salsa Heaven.

come on girls, don't be shy,
I am gonna show you where the angels fly.

in the waltz promenade, graceful is our step,
beautiful eyes connecting, emotions pouring, and tears wept.

reaching into our hearts, in our gentle warm embrace,
to another world, of dancing angels, we do escape.

dancing on soft cotton clouds, full of love and soul,
to the world, with you I dance in the evening show.

so come with me,
dance, and you will see.

special places,
in full embraces.

dancing angel, come dance on cotton clouds,
together this world, I will show you, why I’m so proud.

our hearts dancing and beating as one,
under the warm evening sun.

my partner’s hair flowing in the gentle sea breeze,
in my close dance embrace, your smile, dimples, a sweet little tease.

on the beach, we dance a samba to the rhythm and crash of the oceans waves,
my beautiful dancing angel, this last song, for me she saves.

barefoot on the day’s hot sands, her long white dress, wet from the salty water,
beating so fast, can you hear it, the heart of God’s most graceful angel and beautiful daughter.

in our sweet embrace, my hands clasped in yours,
dancing angel, no windows are shut, nor are the doors.

« danse avec moi ma belle chérie»
come with me, alons-y, alons-y !

now the gentle warm sun sets,
our eyes once again they met.

I see that teasing dimpled smile,
to have it I would dance ten thousand miles.

dancing angel, do you hear it, the music never stops playing in my heart, and right through the night,
what would you say to sassy salsa, a little merengue, or how ‘bout a sexy bachata, real close and tight.

the night is dark, the moon is bright, and we dance under the evening stars, sparkling in her eye,
dancing angel, in your gentle embrace, our dance takes us away, our souls together they do fly.

beach dog

short & sweet little poem I wrote during my lunch break about a stray “beach” dog that my mom, brother and I met on the warm sands in Torres, Brazil in October 2009. This dog followed us around and just wanted to jump and play. We actually contemplated taking him home with us to Canada, but we knew that he was in his element… the love that this dog shared with us that day was really special, and so I thought about writing a little poem about our encounter with this handsome beach dog.

I call this poem, simply: “beach dog”

beautiful, brown, beach dog, where did you come from,
dancing on the hot sands to the wave’s pounding drum.

energy so bountiful, jumping and playing,
run with me, your big brown eyes were saying.

sharing your gorgeous smile, in this moment of peace,
the rolling waves, salty with little crabs, that you munched into a feast.

your paws, black snout and white painted tip of a tail,
an undying love you shared without questions, without fail.

who are you beach dog, to come into our lives,
so briefly, with a paw print on our hearts, an angel in disguise.

you run free on the beach, licking the salty, wet beach,
looking for your next meal, but with a salty feel, what a deceit.

beach dog, you came to dance with us,
but so soon, you left without even a fuss.

so be free beach dog, and live your happy way,
chasing sea birds, running, and jumping in the ocean harbor bay.

a poem inspired by a beach dog during my stay in torres, rio grande do sul, brazil.

embracing light

light gives us hope, follow it and do not despair,
for in the heart, is a brilliant light, a love to share.

friends embrace you, like angels with wings,
feel that warmth, follow that light, where angels sing.

it's heaven on earth, right here and now,
in the darkness, even the sun shines on the moon, I don't know how.

follow that light, believe in yourself, and you will see,
that life is beautiful, like the flowers and blossom of an apple tree.

light is warmth, a love so real,
even the angel's embrace cannot conceal.

when lost on your road in life, my very dear friend,
look in your heart, and you will see the warm light guiding you to nature's mend.
